Bohostel Café responde a la necesidad de ampliar la oferta de servicios que ofrece un hostal de seis niveles ubicado en la Colonia Americana; dentro de sus instalaciones en el primer nivel, los propietarios de lugar buscan transformar las áreas comúnes para ofrecer servicio de cafetería para sus huéspedes.
Al tratarse de un espacio reducido, el proyecto se convierte en una intervención discreta sobre lo edificado: se sirve de los espacios existentes del primer nivel y se transforma en un ejercicio de ordenamiento para incluir una cocina, alacena, barra, área de comensales, stand de exhibición, área de descanso, y área de ventas.
En esta ocasión, la manera de reordenar los espacios se logra con diseño de mobiliario tanto fijo como flexible, permitiendo la menor demolición de elementos existentes posible.
Finalmente, el proyecto resulta en la demolición de dos pequeños muros divisorios de panel de yeso, y la instalación de mobiliario de madera y granito cuidadosamente diseñado para separar, pero no cerrar, las mismas áreas a las que sirve.
Bohostel Café addresses the need to expand the services offered by a six-story hostel located in the Colonia Americana neighborhood. Within its first-floor facilities, the owners sought to transform the common areas to offer a café service for their guests.
Given the limited space, the project became a discreet intervention on the existing structure: it utilized the existing first-floor spaces and transformed them into an exercise in organization to include a kitchen, pantry, bar, dining area, display stand, lounge area, and sales area.
This reorganization was achieved through the design of both fixed and flexible furniture, minimizing the demolition of existing elements.
Ultimately, the project resulted in the demolition of two small drywall partitions and the installation of carefully designed wood and granite furniture that separates, but does not close off, the areas it serves.
